The Changwon Football Center program commemorates the successful 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup and the creation of the football infrastructure industry. It is an eco-friendly park with a football center, being the only one in the nation. It is located in Ilwon 305, Sapajung-dong, Changwon with a great natural setting, created with a land size of 232,086㎡.
The main facilities include a 15000 seat main stadium, 4sided formal stadium, a half dome for indoor training, a youth training facility with a convenience of accommodations, a plaza for inline skating and X-game, and a theme street crossing the complex.
The main stadium is located near the road so the foot traffic would be smooth when there is a momentary congestion of people. The stadium is located parallel to the North-South direction, and the plaza is connected to the theme street so that there is a circulating traffic between the facilities.
Also the city planning road which is directly connected to the youth training facility is extended so that the whole site is circulated and that there is an easy access to the site of scheduled additional facilities.
The parking lot is distributed around the main facilities and will be used as a basketball court during normal times.
The half dome is an indoor exercise facility that is not influenced by the 4 seasonal weather events and a dynamic elevation design has been created connected with the youth training facility, and has minimized the influence from the outside environment by creating the layer of land lower than the surroundings.
The youth training facility has a dynamic image adapted to the site. It is a 4 storied building that includes accommodations, restaurant, main classroom, small performing art hall, seminar room, audiovisual room, general classroom, computer room, billiard hall, table tennis court, fitness center, and a bathroom for 156 athletes. It can provide a comfortable resting place and a healthy meal, and will also be opened to public for usage as a training center.
There is a jogging track, bicycle road, circulating trail, inline skating zone, and a X-game zone for the physical enhancement of the residents, and a world cup symbol sculpture, plaza fountain, gallery, and a public exhibition hall for attraction.
The Changwon Football Center will try its best to not only function as a football stadium, but a complex for cultural space where citizens of family unit can always visit and enjoy sports and leisure.
