Chuncheon International Mime Festival, which was born to popularize mime art, has been presenting original festival programs with both artistry and festivity beyond the stretch of its genre through collective motions and fusion of water and fire.
Since 2011, under the theme of “There was a body in the beginning” we have been focusing on indescribable feelings of instinctive desire that an elemental and natural ‘body’ creates; the natural vitality and visceral feeling of a body beyond its meaning as physical language.
2015 Chuncheon International Mime Festival underlines all ‘acts’, the movements made by bodies.
Refined, dignified movements;
Twisted, hideous, silly, funny movements;
Unconventional, free movements;
All movements in the world are expressed sometimes through clown’s gesture, sometimes through dance, sometimes through play, or sometimes through united motions of all.
Now in 2015, our movements will race through the extreme point for novelty.
New colors are added to Nanjang and other programs.
This originality will be discovered through a dash to the limit, the point which can penetrate the very end of “body, movement, image, art, play, water and fire” based on characteristics and contents of each program, instead of creating originality through ‘adjustment: integration’ with the others.
