The Presidential Office of the Republic of Korea is located in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
Cheong Wa Dae, a symbol of the president of the Republic of Korea, was originally the name of a building that functions as an office and official residence, but its meaning was expanded to represent a group of secretaries and civil servants who assist the president, including the presidential secretariat.
On May 10, 2022, the main building, which was used as the Ministry of National Defense building located at Yongsan Garrison, was reborn as the presidential office according to the Yoon Seok-yeol government's plan to relocate the office. As a result, the new presidential office in Yongsan, which will take over the functions of Cheong Wa Dae's office, will newly symbolize the presidential office as an administrative organization, including the president.
Currently, the name of the office has not been decided, and a public contest is underway for the new name. When the results of the contest are announced, the title of this document will also be changed.
