After a long desire of Busan citizens, the hosting of the 2030 Busan World Expo was confirmed as a national project in May 2019, and the 2030 Busan World Expo hosting planning team was established in November 2019.

The bidding committee was launched in July 2021 to promote attraction promotion activities in earnest.

And in July 2022, it was reorganized into a bidding committee belonging to the Prime Minister to gather its capabilities to attract the nation.

The World Expo is one of the three major international events along with the Olympics and the World Cup, and if Korea holds a registration fair, it will be the seventh country in the world to hold all three international events.

In particular, the 2030 World Expo will focus on new future technologies such as artificial intelligence, 6G, smart airports, and ports to inform the world of Korea's status as a smart leading country and serve as an opportunity for a new leap forward in the economy, society, and culture.

The venue for the 2030 World Expo is expected to be decided by a vote of members of the International Exposition Organization at the end of November 2023.

Since our bid committee officially applied to the International Expo Organization in June 2021, the government and the private sector will work together to gather all national capabilities as a "Korea One Team" to make sure to succeed in the bid.
